Industry Overview:
The battery industry is one of the oldest industries in
Bangladesh. It was initiated in the early 1950, Bangladesh is worth
$950+Million markets per year in the battery industry. The country started to
export Lead acid batteries in the late 90s and today, the export volume has
crossed $ 50 M per year including India, Nepal, and the EU-US market. Globally
Bangladesh has earned the reputation of producing batteries maintaining
international standards. So there is ample scope to grow the local market &
international market if the proper investment and plan are made. The entire
battery industry is serving different sectors as follows (Appx.): Automotive:
15%, Motorcycle: 2%, EV: 67%, IPS: 4%, Telecom: 11%, and Solar 1%. Currently,
more than 1.0 million Easy Bikes are running throughout the country. So the
market size is very big and local manufacturers are trying to serve the market
but failed to meet the demand. As a result, lots of batteries are coming from
China. The total EV Battery market in Bangladesh is worth $ 220 Million.
Bangladesh's installed renewable energy capacity is
650.53 megawatts (MW). Solar makes up 416 MW, with hydropower producing 230 MW.
The total figure was up from 579 MW in 2018. Bangladesh has ambitious solar and
green energy goals. The country plans to generate 4,100 MW of clean energy by
2030,
